Wisdom Teeth

Third molars are commonly referred to as wisdom teeth and are usually the last teeth to develop. They are located in the back of the mouth and typically mature within the middle teenage years and early twenties. Often times the jaw is too small to accommodate the wisdom teeth which leads to what is called impacted wisdom teeth. This simply means they are unable to erupt into the proper position for function such as chewing and cleaning, indicating they need to be surgically removed.
